Orange Essential Oil

Oranges are a fruit that may have much more to offer than you maybe ever realized. The sweet, citrusy flavor and scent are famous for their crisp, fruity freshness. In addition to being an excellent source of vitamin C (which helps build up the immune system), this popular fruit is known to be a healthy mood-booster and good for your heart, kidneys, liver, eyes, and skin.

While most people eat their oranges and then toss the peels, there are many benefits that can be harnessed from an orange rind. In fact, Orange Essential Oil comes directly from the peel through cold-compression. The peel is chopped into small pieces and then pressed to extract the oils, preserving the chemical structure of the orange oil by avoiding intense heat.

There are a wide range of benefits that have been attributed to Orange Essential Oil. Many believe that it can be anti-inflammatory, antiseptic (guards against harmful bacteria), and an aid in the digestion process. It has also been suggested that this essential oil can help make your skin smooth and healthy, whiten your teeth, relax muscles, deliver antioxidants (which support your immune system), and flush toxins out of your body.

There have been tests performed in regards to the authenticity of these benefits. One verified positive effect of Orange Essential Oil that really stands out is in the world of aromatherapy. The zesty citrus scent can act as an antidepressant as well as an anxiolytic, which means it helps to inhibit anxiety. Simply smelling the orange aroma will likely serve to improve your mood.

The testing of physiological contributions for this essential oil are less consistent, which is unfortunate because the Jonas family has found it to be greatly beneficial and enjoys making it available to others. We include it in our Sunrise Goat Milk Soap, Chamomile Goat Milk Soap, and several of our lotions and other products.

There are a few different types of this essential oil. We have chosen to use Sweet Orange because it is more mild than Wild Orange, and not phototoxic (sensitive to light and/or absorbs light intensely) like Bitter Orange.

Essential oils are very strong and should never be ingested or used undiluted on your skin. We are very careful with your goat milk soap to use an amount that is beneficial, but safe for your skin. Allergic reactions to orange essential oil are very rare, but please watch for any reaction when using orange products.
